The worst thing that ever happened to the Beach Boys what that their career happened in the same time frame as The Beatles.  The Beach Boys were sidelined as The Beatles blew everyone away.

People have written the Beach Boys off, but they did produce a couple of very good albums including 'Pet Sounds' - which served as an inspiration for Sgt. Pepper.
